Repairers rushed to the scene on Thursday after water was seen leaking from a viewing panel.
Six divers entered the tank to work in co-operation with workers on the outside of the panel, while others mopped up.
One witness described seeing a “small crack in the aquarium glass”, but a mall spokesman said that the leak had occurred in “one of the panel joints” and was “immediately fixed by the aquarium’s maintenance team”.
The leak “did not impact the aquarium environment or the safety of the aquatic animals”.
The aquarium has the world’s largest acrylic viewing panel, some 8m high, 33m across and 0.75m thick. It has not been reported whether or not this was the panel affected.
Opened in November 2008, the 10-million-litre aquarium was described as an “indoor ocean”. It features some 85 species totalling 33,000 creatures, including some 400 sharks and rays.
