Dive Master Insurance has said that the payments are being made regarding any policy agreed before the suspension of flights over Britain was announced.
“Dive Master Insurance will provide full policy benefits as a result of the recent volcanic ash emergency for those divers who purchased insurance before the closure of UK airspace on the 15th April, and we are dealing with cancellation and trip delay claims,” Bob Archell, Managing Director, has said.
“We are not accepting any claims for trip cancellations or delays on policies bought after the 15th April, because insurance only covers events that happen after the policy is taken out.”
Archell added: “Once the current airspace restrictions are lifted and flight schedules have returned to normal, Dive Master Insurance policy holders will again have the cancellation and delay benefits available.
“Should the volcano in Iceland cause future travel disruption as a result of a new event, this will then be covered as a separate incident.
“At the moment Dive Master Insurance has no plans to exclude this cover from its policies.”
Amongst other business, the company has an arrangement with the British Sub-Aqua Club to provide specialist and discounted services to club members.
