Cornish fatality

26 July 2010

A diver has lost his life after getting into difficulty off southern Cornwall.

The man, believed to be from the local area, was diving with friends in Gerrans Bay, between the Roseland Peninsula and Nare Head, off Portscatho.

The group put out an emergency call in late morning yesterday, 25 July. Both Falmouth lifeboats were launched and the SAR helicopter at RNAS Culdrose scrambled.

The casualty was airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske in Truro, where he died.
