The divers, described as in their 30s, visited the 25m-deep wreck of the mussel dredger Segonium in Caernarfon Bay, North Wales yesterday afternoon.
As they were returning to the surface, a buoyancy control problem developed and both ended up making a rapid ascent.
Symptoms of DCI soon emerged and an emergency call was put out by their dive boat.
The SAR helicopter from RAF Valley was scrambled and airlifted the men to the recompression chamber at Spire Murrayfield Hospital on the Wirral.
They were later reported to be in a stable condition.
