The annual Ocean Art Photography Competition has been launched by the American Underwater Photography Guide.
In terms of its prizes, the contest is claimed to be “one of the largest underwater photography competitions held”. To be won are no fewer than 25 liveaboard and resort scuba trips, plus a range of equipment.
The competition has 11 categories including, unusually, differentiation between sophisticated SLR cameras, with their many control options, and the more limited compacts used by many people on their diving holidays.
This should give “underwater photographers of all levels a chance to win”.
Judges include Briton Martin Edge, Marty Snyderman, Chris Newbert and Bonnie Pelnar.
Deadline for entries to the inaugural Ocean Art Photography Competition 2010 is 14 November.
