The pair, described as a man and woman in their 40s, were in a group which had gone out from Plymouth’s Mountbatten complex for a wreck dive yesterday morning.
They were taken for treatment at the Diving Diseases Research Centre, based at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital.
The incident is the third within a fortnight to have involved the evacuation of multiple casualties from British waters.
A pair of divers were airlifted from Caernarfon Bay in North Wales on 1 August, showing clear signs of decompression illness after making a rapid ascent together.
Two days later, three divers were airlifted from off Pembrokeshire’s Skomer Island.
Two were reported to have symptoms of DCI, while the third felt unwell and was flown ashore for precautionary treatment.
