The Roundstone Dive and Beach Party, to be filmed for inclusion in the series, runs over 4 and 5 September on the beautiful Gurteen Beach at Roundstone, Connemara in County Galway.
The event is being run in aid of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG), which does valuable work in tending cetaceans in difficulty off, or stranded on, Irish coasts.
It features boat and shore dives, including introductory dives and snorkelling for family and friends, run by Renvyle’s Scubadive West; courses, lectures and displays, including underwater photography; beach games and nature walks.
Key speakers include Halls, Irish underwater photographer Nigel Motyer, adventure documentaries director Martin Pailthorpe, maritime historian Michael Gibbons, and the head of the IWDG, Simon Berrow.
Proceeds from activities including a charity auction and diving trivia quiz will go toward the purchase of a 4000-euro cetaceans rescue pontoon for use by the IWDG off Connemara shores.
Pervading all will be, as the event flyer puts it, “the mother of all parties”, with music by the Irish band Na Ciotogai.
Those interesting in attending should email organiser Tamsyn Smith at diveroundstone@gmail.com, as “places are limited”. Entry costs 30 euros.
Following his return to the UK, Halls will feature as a main speaker at the DIVE 2010 exhibition, held at the NEC in Birmingham over 30 and 31 October. For show details, click here.
