Singing for divers

Derek Dick is a member of East Lothian Divers, the Dunbar-area branch of the Scottish Sub-Aqua Club. He is also the singer Fish, former front man of venerated Scottish band Marillion and now a solo artist.

Dick joined the diving club this year, crossing over from NAUI having enjoyed the sport as a “holiday diver” for the past 22 years.

He has, he told Divernet, already appreciated the camaradie and diving expeditions which have “contributed a lot to my life in this last year when I was recovering from a major operation on my vocal chords”.

He is doing his bit to help raise the £5000 which the club needs in order to pay for a new outboard for its RIB, after the loss of an expected grant award.

The gig, from which proceeds will go both to the club engine fund and the RNLI, is being held at St Mary's church in Haddington, East Lothian on Friday, 22nd October (doors 7pm, performance around 7.45pm).
