And at DIVE 2010, taking place later this month at Birmingham's NEC, an impressive range of new products will be on view for the first time.
AP Valves is launching the Commando Escape Sub-Three-Zero, a lightweight travel jacket weighing under 3kg, while TUSA will introduce the BCJ-7000C Conquest jacket (pictured), as well as its first air-integrated computer, the IQ-950 Zen.
Oceanic also makes a computer contribution with its patented Dual Algorithm dive computers, from the VEO 1.0 up to the OC1, but new for the show is the Hollis BioDry drysuit, made from "a tough yet high-stretch membrane material".
Other new suits at the show will include Otter Watersports' Travelite, a lightweight membrane drysuit with a telescopic torso, front zip and 4mm socks for use with the Otter Rock Boot System.
Body Glove will unveil its 2011 dive range of suits, which it says has been completely revamped. The W2 from Waterproof Wetsuits is taking over from its Lynx and Aries ranges. New hinge-effect knee pads are designed for easy leg movement. And Fourth Element is set to launch a new undersuit system developed with help from cave-diver Rick Stanton, IANTD Training Director Phill Short and wildlife film-maker Hugh Miller.
Technical gear will feature strongly, with VR Technology showing the new Apeks Sentinel BOV (Bail-Out Valve) for the Sentinel rebreather, while Custom Divers has chosen DIVE 2010 to launch a multi-functional lightweight aluminium bracket system for mounting independent twin cylinders. And Midland Diving will display a selection of products jointly developed with Beuchat, including diving valves and manifolds.
The latest addition to Metalsub's range is its first complete cable lamp kit, the KL-1242 package. The recent slimline XRE-700 LED handheld torch will also be show.
Photographic innovations will also abound, including Intova's SP-8 camera, rated to 40m in its housing and to 10m without it, and new gear from UW-Fotopartner and INON.
The New Products Showcase is a great starting point for show visitors to catch up on the latest gear, and at DIVE 2010 there will be more emphasis on technical dive gear than ever before.
In addition to a packed programme of diving speakers including Monty Halls, Paul Rose and Andrea Marshall, other attractions at DIVE 2010, which takes place over the weekend of October 30/31, will include the Red Sea Zone, British Isles Experience, PADI Village, Asia-Pacific Pavilion, technical and beginner try-dive pools, and the new interactive Total Immersion Freedive Experience.
