MBE for former BSAC chairman

The award recognises Harrison’s longstanding services to the BSAC as Chairman, a post he held from 1999 to 2006, and as a Vice President, a role in which he continues to serve the club.

It is for the first time that an individual has been included in the New Year's Honours List for services to the BSAC since the club’s inception in 1953.

During Harrison’s tenure as Chairman, the BSAC moved from financial frailty to a sustainable economic model.

It also regained its position as the governing body of sports scuba in Britain, its methods recognised by government and courts as standards reasonably expected of those who train and operate together as leisure divers.
