According to Egypt’s Chamber of Diving and Watersports (CDWS), coastal resorts are, at least for now, “completely unaffected by what is going on in Cairo and other cities”.
On Monday the CDWS stated that, while the situation was fluid so that it was “not possible to predict how things will change”, as it stood “you would pretty much not know it [political activity] was going on”.
The exception was “the continued lack of internet access”.
It added that it had communicated with "about 10 of our members, and all are saying things are good, and reported no problems”.
The advice of Britain’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s advice is not to travel, unless it is essential, to Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor or Suez.
Regarding other areas, today it was stating: “According to latest information, the Red Sea resorts, including Sharm el Sheikh, remain calm.
“However, the situation across Egypt is unpredictable and may change quickly. You should stay in touch with your tour operator.”
