Running alongside the forthcoming London International Dive Show (LIDS 2011) at ExCeL on the weekend of 26/27 March, TEK 2011 will cover topics ranging from expedition management and deco-planning to the latest closed-circuit rebreather technology and training.
Heading up the conference programme, which can be viewed in full on the TEK 2011 website, will be John Garvin, one of the world's most experienced technical divers.
Co-writer of "Sanctum", James Cameron's 3D cave-diving thriller, for which he was also diving coordinator, John will speak to the TEK 2011 audience about his cave-exploration programme in the Turks and Caicos islands, and how his extensive experiences there fed into the final screenplay of the movie.
Other subjects striking a particularly topical note at TEK 2011 will be Jason Mallinson's account of how he led the recent record-breaking Pozo Azul cave penetration, Vikki Batten's overview of PADI's forthcoming rebreather training courses, and Paul Raymeaker's description of his 212m dive off Safaga with his rEvo rebreather.
Meanwhile, divers set to make presentations covering topics ranging from incident-avoidance to wreck diving, equipment configuration, dive planning and expedition management include Sal Cartwright, Mark Ellyatt, Martyn Farr, Jack Ingle, David Jones, Gareth Lock, Mark Powell, Mike Rowley, Phil Short, Rich Stevenson and Paul Toomer.
TEK 2011 will run in two ExCeL presentation suites next to the main LIDS exhibition hall. All levels of diver are welcome because, although aimed primarily at experienced technical divers, and those recently qualified and looking to do more, there will also be sessions at the conference for those wanting to find out what technical diving is all about, and what equipment and training is available.
Priced at £22.50 for one day and £40 for both days, tickets for TEK 2011 include entry to LIDS 2011.
TEK 2011 is a DIVER Group event in association with Apeks, Dive Life, Hollis (Oceanic), PADI RecTec, Scuba Travel and Suunto, and supported by Tekstreme Diving and Body Glove.
