But this year his appearance at the London International Dive Show (LIDS 2011) comes within weeks of the screening of his eagerly awaited 4-hour BBC TV series on homeland diving, Britain's Secret Seas.
Covering the whole compass to show Britain's "Wild North", "Energy of the East", "Crowded South" and "Giants of the West", the programmes are all about "being able to bring the simplicity of UK diving to life", says Paul (pictured).
"We did uncover hugely surprising stories – it was full of surprises for the team, so it will be jam-packed full of surprises for the viewers."
Meanwhile, Monty Halls will be treating the LIDS audience to tales from his latest Great Escapes series, which will also be coming to our TV screens in March.
This time, Monty and Reuben escape to Connemara on the wild west coast of Ireland to help the Irish Whale and Dolphin group and get to know the people of this remote and beautiful place. Amid mussel cook-offs and ill-judged corruch races, Monty explores the length of the coastline monitoring the marine animals that are his first love, with a plan to set up a network of local people to continue the good work after he's left.
Other must-see speakers at LIDS 2011 include John Garvin, one of the world's most experienced technical divers, who not only co-wrote the script for Sanctum, James Cameron's 3D follow-up to Avatar, but who was also diving coordinator and acted in the film.
And continuing the cave-dive theme will be Jason Mallinson, leader of the team whose recent 8825m diving penetration of the Pozo Azul system in Spain established a stunning new world record.
Meanwhile, two marine-life experts based in southern Africa making serious waves in the world of big animals, as indicated by their nicknames – "Queen of the Mantas" Andrea Marshall and "Shark Warrior" Lesley Rochat - will also be giving Dive Show presentations.
Andrea was at LIDS last year, but this time round you can expect her to highlight not only her work with manta rays, but also the diving she and her colleagues are doing with whale sharks and other rare species of marine megafauna.
Lesley has made a number of films, including the award-winning Sharks In Deep Trouble, and her LIDS presentation will include a selection of powerful imagery, designed to leave a deep impression on audiences.
LIDS 2011 takes place at ExCeL on the weekend of 26/27 March. All speaker presentations are free to show visitors. Advance tickets cost just £7.50 (or £6.50 if you buy six or more).
