High club standards recognised

In receiving the accreditation, Derbyshire’s Ashbourne Sub-Aqua Club has been recognised for maintaining high standards in key areas of club activity.

These include a safely run diving programme; an efficient management structure; responsible approaches to equity and ethics; and protecting young and vulnerable people.

The club is the tenth diving club in the country, and the first in the East Midlands, to join the Clubmark band. Overall there are some 10,000 Clubmark clubs in the UK, representing about 35 sports.

To be eligible for accreditation, clubs need to be affiliated with the national governing body of their sport, which in the case of diving is the British Sub-Aqua Club.
