THE ULTIMATE DIVE CRUISE

The DIVER Awards 2010 prize is by courtesy of the Aqua Cat liveaboard, The Bahamas Tourist Office, London and the tour operator Bahamas Flavour. And it’s no ordinary prize. You’re promised “the ultimate escape aboard your own private luxury yacht”! No crowds, no set itineraries, nothing to do but sit back, relax and pick and mix your activities – which means up to five dives a day if you want them, with the options of participating in a reef ID course or speciality dive programmes. If a change of pace is required, opt for snorkelling, kayaking, island-exploring or just chilling.

Aqua Cat leaves Nassau on New Providence every Saturday for an eight-day diving adventure in the remote Bahamian islands of the Exumas. The diverse diving there includes spectacular wall-dives, shark encounters, high-speed drift dives and thriving, colourful reefs. The 31m catamaran has three spacious decks, saloon and dining area, and accommodates 22 guests comfortably in 11 en suite cabins. There is an 8m launch, a video lab, nitrox on tap and a professional crew of instructors and divemasters. The DIVER Awards prize includes return flights from the UK, all meals and beverages, diving, crew gratuity and transfers. All the winner needs to pay is port tax and fees, which cost £130 per person. …and it could win you a £5000 Aqua Cat dive trip for two to The Bahamas!
Accept no substitute! The DIVER Awards have been British diving’s highest accolade for no fewer than thirteen years, in which time some 120 of the prestigious bronze DIVER statuettes have been awarded to the stars of the business. New winners often express surprise when they find out just how much the Oscars of British diving weigh!
These trophies allow the winners to claim that a significant proportion of the British diving public has recognised the quality of the service they provide, or the product they make. This in turn means that if you make use of what they have to offer, you’re in good company. You can’t buy prestige like that – which is why you shouldn’t give your valuable votes lightly.
You have until the end of 2010 to send us the names of your nominees, but why wait? Do it right now. Because one of you, whose name will be drawn at random, is in line to win an incredible prize – a week for two aboard the luxury catamaran Aqua Cat in The Bahamas, valued at £5000.
Below are the nine categories:
- Which badge on your dive gear speaks volumes about quality and reliability?
- Which do you consider the most exciting item of kit to emerge in 2010?
- Which company is best at arranging diving package holidays?
- Which centre, anywhere in the world, seems to get it right more often than not?
- It may be the facilities, the crew or the itinerary – name your ideal boat
- Name the best country for divers to visit, and not necessarily the obvious!
- Vote for any dive store that has given you good value and exemplary service
- Select your favourite diving book or DVD out in 2010 (no mags, please!)
- There is an award, but you no longer need to vote – the winners will emerge from among the newcomers with the most votes in the other categories.
