The saving of the Swan
The remains of a one-time warship of Charles I, sunk off the Scottish coast nearly 350 years ago, were being scattered by the elements when local sport divers came across them in 1992. Research by one of the divers has identified the wreck as probably that of the Swan, a vessel which had fallen into Cromwell's hands, and the group's recoveries from the site have helped to establish it as an important find.
