Mark Webster is a very talented underwater photographer, and a long-time contributor to DIVER. He also has an impressive knowledge of what makes marine life tick, and this enables him to locate and record the best of it.
This slim, oversquare volume contains an attractive set of sea-life images. They cover the spectrum of Cornish underwater life from shrimps to basking sharks, and reflect just how colourful it is.
Some, like the colourful lumpsucker, are unforgettable from previous outings in print.
There is not that much text in Beneath Cornish Seas, but what does seem a radical decision was to print the introduction, captions and notes in dun colours on a dark background.
It's almost as if Alison Hodge Publishers didn't want us to read the words, in case they distracted us from the pictures. Alison, your idea worked.
