UntitledThis ring-bound book is produced by the Subnauta dive centre with the backing of the Algarve Promotion Bureau, and the information it contains would be invaluable for anyone holidaying on the southern Portuguese coast and fancying a dive or two.
Following a concise introductory briefing, a series of well-conceived data sheets cover
no fewer than 50 dive sites between Cape St Vincent and the Spanish border.
Each consists of slightly crude but engaging site drawings, along with classifications, recommendations and photographs.
Popular wreck sites include the Ocean, a mid-18th century relic from the Battle of Lagos between England and France, and the Torvore, Wilhelm Krag and Nordsoen, WW1 vessels sunk by the U-boat U35.
WW2 wrecks include the Empire Warrior off Vila Real and a B24 Liberator bomber near Faro.
The only off-putting thing about this book is the peculiar smell of the waterproof paper, but it should easily survive, if not a dive, the wettest boat-ride!
