Online monthly competition

Judging for the monthly competitions will take place within the two weeks following the end of the competition month and the result will be announced here on Divernet.com. The winner of each monthly competition will receive a prize given by Cameras Underwater.

DIVER Photographer of the Year
An online competition between all previous winners (of the monthly competitions May-August) was held in September. The judges chose one of the monthly winners as the DIVER Photographer of the Year, who will be invited to join the Epson Red Sea International Underwater Photography Competition 2008.
The prize includes: flights, half-board accommodation and diving during the Eilat - Red Sea competition.

Epson - Red Sea 2008 Competition
The Main competition will be held for the 4th year in a row, on November 10-15, 2008.
Crusader Travel will be providing the overall winner of the DIVER Photographer of the Year competition with flights from the UK, resort transfers, seven nights' accommodation in a four-star hotel in Eilat and unlimited diving with the Aquasport dive centre in Eilat for the duration of the SanDisk competition.

Nigel Wade progresses from Web to water

The Diver Photographer of the Year is Nigel Wade, of Thatcham in Berkshire. After winning the online competition, he is going on to represent the UK in person at the Epson Red Sea International Photo Competition in Eilat, Israel from 10-15 November.
Nigel was judged the overall winner of the four-month Diver Underwater Photography Competition, open to all comers.
Though he didn't win any of the four individual four heats outright, he came a close second in both July and August, and overall the style and content of his work impressed the judges.
A full-time fireman, Nigel started diving while on holiday in the Dominican Republic in 1990 and is now a Master Scuba Diver Trainer.
He took his first underwater photographs in the Maldives in 1995, and progressed from small cameras to the Nikon D200 in Subal housing that he uses today, though he started using a DSLR only two years ago.
Nigel Wade is one of 10 Sandisk competition contenders chosen through national online competitions organised by diving magazines around the world.
He gets automatic entry to the high-value competition, in which prizes include a US $10,000 dive trip to Papua New Guinea, a trip to Cocos Island, a $7000 Seacam housing for a Nikon camera and $2000 in cash - not to mention 1000 bottles of beer.
A special media prize also provides the chance to compete for a $5000 donation to a shark-conservation charity.
Tour operator Crusader Travel will provide Nigel Wade with free flights from the UK, transfers, seven nights' accommodation in a 4* hotel and unlimited diving with the Aquasport dive centre.
Other photographers are welcome to apply to take part in the Sandisk competition - although, unlike Nigel, they will have to pay their own way!
